Many residents in Mount Pleasant are families since the schools are so highly rated, but there are many young professionals who are heading here for the quick commute into the city. People here love heading into the city for a night out and to the beach on the weekends; the town is perfectly situated between both destinations. Many residents keep an active lifestyle by running, walking, or biking the beach trails and paths on the weekends and taking local workout classes during the week at the major chain fitness studios in town. Like most of South Carolina, golf is a big pastime here, and many enjoy playing at the private clubs in town or heading to Wild Dunes in Isle of Palms.

Mount Pleasant Towne Centre was voted "Charleston's Best Shopping Destination” and boasts 60+ shops & restaurants and a 16-screen theater. It’s a fantastic open-air plaza where you can smell the sea breeze and do some retail therapy.
Things to Do
Since Mount Pleasant is so close to both the city of Charleston and the beach towns of Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms, there are truly so many things to do in this neighborhood and surrounding areas. At
Isle of Palms County Park, you can walk along six miles of sandy beaches or head to the boardwalks and snack stands. At Sullivan’s Island, you’ll be more with the local weekend crowds, but they also have some great beachside bars and eateries. For a more exclusive weekend getaway, stay at the
Wild Dunes Resort to play the Tom Fazio-designed golf courses or try your hand at tennis.
Mount Pleasant's most distinctive neighborhood is certainly
The Old Village. It's so historic that it's registered with the National Register of Historic Places as of 1973. Stroll through the streets lined with live oaks and stop by the trendy shops; it’s a great way to spend the afternoon!
Shem Creek in town is the major waterway on the wetland side, and many people love kayaking through the marshes and exploring the natural beauty of this ecological preserve. For a taste of history, head to
Patriot Point Naval & Maritime Museum to learn about the area’s rich historical past.
